What is GDPR and why do you need it?
The Data Protection Regulation, introduced by the European Union on 25 May 2018, provides a comprehensive set of rules for the processing of personal data of EU citizens. The Regulation aims to strengthen citizens' data protection rights and standardise data processing across the EU.
Companies outside the EU are also covered by the GDPR if they process data of EU citizens.
The authorities will sanction improper processing of personal data.
The fine can be up to 4% of annual turnover, up to a maximum of €20 000 000.
